Favorite Period Drama Soundtracks // YOU'RE WELCOME

Hello friends,

Now, I believe in a very large dose of music every day. Not just singing along to the radio in the car or listening to Pandora while getting ready for the day, but all the time. A great option in music when you're faced with studying, reading, or writing, is soundtracks. As an expert in always wearing my headphones and ignoring the world, I thought I'd share with you all some of my favorite period drama soundtracks. I use to make fun of my brothers for enjoying movie soundtracks, but then my eyes were opened to the wonderful world of period drama movies and their magical music. So to help you be a little more happier and a whole lot more productive, here are some of my favorites

i. Emma (2009)

If Mr. Knightley isn't reason enough for you to watch this beautiful adaption of Jane Austen's Emma, (which he totally should be because he's adorable), than watch it for the soundtrack. It's so fun! It's almost always on while I'm reading, fun fact. Bonus points if you listen to it while reading Emma and drinking tea. You're basically almost as savvy as me.

ii. Jane Eyre (2011)

This soundtrack is pure loveliness! It translate the tone of the novel into music so perfectly. Actually, last November/December when I was reading Jane Eyre, I would listen to the soundtrack and it was such a pleasant reading experience. Honestly guys, I know a lot of people have issues with this adaption, but it's so beautifully filmed and has splendid music so go watch it anyways.

iii. Pride and Prejudice (2005)

Another controversial period drama adaption. Don't hate me here guys, but I actually like this version better than the Colin Firth one. I KNOW, oh my goodness how dare I?? It's just so pretty and the music is to die for. Plus, I watched this movie before I ever read the book, and I fell in love with the story, which led me to read Pride and Prejudice and be opened up to the wonderful world of Jane Austen.  So don't hate me, and go listen to the soundtrack.

iv. Atonement (2007)

I discovered this soundtrack before I even watched the movie, and fell in love. The movie itself is very powerful, though is rated R and has some adult content, so just a warning. But besides that, it was pretty good! The music, to me at least, tells a story from beginning to end, and I just love how it was composed. It also uses a typewriter at times and it's just so cool! So you should go listen to it.

v. Anna Karenina (2012)

I'm now just realizing three out of the five all star Keira Knightley, but you can't blame me, she's in a lot of period dramas with fantastic soundtracks! Anna Karenina is no exception. I haven't actually seen the movie yet, but I've listened to the music quite a bit and it's just so fun! It's a lot different than the rest, and I'd love to see how it fits with the tone of the movie and novel, but that will have to wait for another day. For now, just know the music is quite pretty.

What's your favorite period drama soundtrack? Or just plan movie soundtrack? Do you agree with any of the ones that are on my list? Leave me a comment down blow, I'm always up for new recommendations!

Have a wonderful week,

Elizabeth

The Duff // Dressing Down Peplum

Shoes/Sears. Everything else/Target
Hello everyone,

Did you all have a good Tuesday? I spent mine getting some school done at my favorite coffee shop and then seeing a movie and snapping some pictures with my friend Chloe. It was a productive and fun day! We saw The Duff, which was an alright movie. Very predictable and cliche, but somewhat funny! I would suggest to save your money, though, and just rent it when it comes out if you are interested in seeing it. It's probably not a movie I will watch again.

Anyways, I bought this dress at Target about a week ago. It was on the 70% off rack, making it only $7. What a steal! I attempted to dress it down with my cardigan, combat boots, and leggings, yet I still felt a tad dressy, That was okay though, I don't mind dressing up for things.

With love,

Elizabeth

Weekend Summary #2

Hello.

Today I am here with another weekend summery. I love adventuring and doing different things during the weekend, so you might see a lot of these in the future. I also might share some more pictures of the hike and the little town/fort I visited. It was a super fun weekend though, I'm sad it is over.

Friday// I started the day with finishing up some school, cleaning, and grocery shopping, but later that night I had a friend over and we had a movie night. We watched all musicals since I am kind of obsessed with them and she enjoys them too. We watched Hairspray, a movie we both love; Grease, a movie she adores but I hadn't watched yet; and lastly, Les Miserables. I absolutely love that movie and the book. When I had heard she hadn't seen it, I forced her to watch it. She didn't like it to much, but it was still a great night!

Saturday// After we woke up from a night of watching movies and eating popcorn, we made chocolate pancakes with homemade raspberry jam and whip cream. They were delicious! Afterwords, my family packed up our car and we went to explore Fort Casey and Coupeville out on Whidbey Island. It was a super fun day! I took a ton of pictures of both the fort and the adorable little town. We also got to watch the sunset, it was beautiful! More pictures may be coming soon. :)

Sunday// Sunday was another fun day! After church, some of my brothers and I's friends went
on a hike up Sauk Mountain. The view was amazing, but the trail was super muddy, and at times, covered in snow, so we didn't trek up the entire way. We definitely need to return in the summer though, when all the snow is gone and we aren't slipping off the trail and breaking our necks. Afterwords, we went and got pizza at our favorite pizza joint. Again, I may also post a few more pictures of this hike if you are all interested. :)

What did you do this weekend? Are there any interesting hikes near where you live?

I hope you had a fantastic weekend,

Elizabeth

January Favorites

Hello lovelies,

With January being almost over, I thought I'd share my monthly favorites with you all. I'm still trying to comprehend that January is almost over though! Excuse me for being cliche, but wow it sure went by fast. This month has been stressful, yet rewarding, with the end of semester and science fair, but a new year and new semester are here and I'm ready to make the best of it. So anyways, here are my favorites this month. ;)

Movie// I've always loved musicals, but recently that is all I want to watch. The Sound of Music has been my most beloved movie for so long, and this month was no exception. The music never gets old, plus I love the costumes. If you have never seen it, you must drop whatever you're doing right now, stop reading my little rant, and start watching it!

Book// In English class this month we've been learning poetry. It's never something I've been into before, but that was just because I really hadn't read much of it. I have fallen in love though! I picked out a few different types of poetry books at my library, as you saw in a past post of mine, but 100 Essential Modern Poems has been one I can't stop flipping through. There are so many different, yet beautiful poems in its pages, I strive to be able to write like some of those poets some day.

Writing// As I shared in my "Lately" post, I love writing to do lists and different types of schedules. I actually have my February blog schedule ready to go. I'm quite excited too :) I've been using Bic's permanent markers for my planning. I love how bright and fun the colors are, they just pop right out of the page! They cause me to want to get everything done, which is great motivation for me since after my homework is finished, all I want to do is sleep or watch Netflix.

Body// For my birthday and Christmas last month, I got tons of different perfumes, but my Live Your Life one by AEO is by far my favorite! It lasts all day and smells fruity with a little bit of musk, but it's not so strong were it causes me a headache. It has definitely been my go to perfume this month. Plus, it's a roller so it is easier to apply, at least in my opinion.

Face// I love blush! It is one makeup product I rarely leave the house without. It just adds so much color to my face and helps me not look as pale and blank. Maybelline's Dream Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin has been my most worn this month. I love how it's a cream blush and the color just works well right now with my skin tone, at least I hope so and I'm not walking around looking terrible. :P

Lips// I really enjoy lipstick and the many different and fun colors there are. Lately though, I've been to rushed to think about adding any, and my eos lip balms have become my new best friends. It doesn't really change your appearance, but they're super moisturizing. My lips have been chapped all month so this product kind of saved me from going insane.

Food// Now don't get me wrong from this picture, I love my carbs and sugar, but recently, one of my favorite things to put together at home is a yummy ranch salad. I've been adding tomatoes or grapes, carrots, onions or cucumber, feta cheese, and grilled chicken. It's just so good and filling, plus it makes me feel like I'm somewhat healthy so that is always nice.

What are some of your January favorites? Can you believe how fast this month has gone?

Hope you all have a wonderful day,

Elizabeth
